CalmBuddy ("we," "our," or "the App") is a mental wellness companion app built around a simple idea: your feelings are yours alone. This Privacy Policy explains what information CalmBuddy interacts with, how it is stored, and the choices you have. Because CalmBuddy is designed to work fully offline, most of this policy is about what we don't do.
1. Overview
CalmBuddy helps you log moods, track wellness patterns, practice breathing exercises, journal privately, and listen to calming soundscapes. The App is built on a privacy-first foundation: there is no account to create, no sign-in, and no cloud sync. Everything you log stays on your device unless you choose to back it up or export it yourself through your device's own tools.
2. Information You Create In the App
The following information is generated only when you actively use a feature, and only you can see it:

| Reminders | The time you set for your daily log reminder, stored on-device to trigger a local notification |
| PIN Lock | A PIN code you create to lock the App, stored only on your device (see Section 7) |
3. How Your Data Is Stored
All mood logs, notes, journal entries, and settings are stored locally in the App's storage on your device. We do not operate a server that receives, stores, or backs up this content, and we cannot view it. If you uninstall the App or use the "Erase All Data" option, this information is removed from your device.
4. What We Do Not Collect
CalmBuddy does not collect, request, or transmit:
- Your name, email, or any account credentials - there is no account system
- Precise or approximate location data
- Contacts, photos, or other personal files on your device
- Persistent advertising identifiers used to track you across other apps or websites
- Behavioral tracking or analytics that profile you across other apps or websites
5. Device Permissions
CalmBuddy may request the following device permissions, used strictly for the purpose described:
- Notifications - to deliver your daily mood-log reminder at the time you choose
- Audio playback - to play breathing-exercise sounds and Premium SoundScape frequencies
- Network access - to load and play the short rewarded ad when you choose to unlock Premium SoundScape. Premium SoundScape is unlocked by watching an ad - no subscription is required.
You can disable any permission at any time from your device's system settings; doing so may limit the related feature.
6. PIN Lock & Security
If you set a Privacy PIN, it is stored only on your device and used solely to lock the App from casual access by others using your device. We do not have access to your PIN, and we cannot recover it for you if forgotten - you will need to reset it using the option provided in Settings, which may require re-erasing local app data depending on your device.
7. Deleting Your Data
The Settings screen includes an "Erase All Data" option that permanently deletes all mood logs, notes, journal entries, and preferences stored on your device. This action cannot be undone, and because we do not keep a server-side copy, we are unable to restore erased data on your behalf.
8. Children's Privacy
CalmBuddy is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by your local law), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App does not require an account and stores data only on-device, we have no practical way to identify a user's age. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has used the App, you can use the "Erase All Data" option to remove locally stored content from the device.
9. Wellness, Not Medical Care
CalmBuddy is a self-help wellness tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Mood logs, breathing exercises, and soundscapes are intended to support general emotional awareness, not to replace care from a licensed therapist, counselor, or physician. 10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's features or for legal reasons. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continuing to use CalmBuddy after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
11. Your Choices & Rights
Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control. You can:
- Review or edit any mood log or journal entry from the History or Wellness screens
- Turn daily reminders on or off at any time in Settings
- Enable or remove the Privacy PIN at any time
- Permanently erase all locally stored data using "Erase All Data" in Settings
- Uninstall the App, which removes its locally stored data from your device
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA. Since CalmBuddy does not collect or hold your personal data on any server, most such requests (access, deletion, portability) can be fulfilled directly by you, on-device, using the tools above.
